Village Hall News

Sunday August 29th (Bank holiday Weekend) from 12 noon

This will be a free event for us all to take along our own food and drink for a picnic. BBQs will be available for use, there will be a bar and also soft refreshments and ice cream to buy. The Blue Bird Theatre Comany will entertain the children and there will be an obstacle course and games. Cream Tea will be served at 3.30pm.

Tables and chairs are available but feel free to bring your own garden chairs for added comfort!

Thank you to Clare Murphy for the Village Hall Committee and Tony Murphy for the Parish Council who are putting this summer event together. Come along and enjoy a relaxed afternoon after the forced separation of a difficult year. See you there!

MUGA

The Trustees agreed at the July meeting to fund work to improve the surface and surrounds of the Multi Use Games Area. This involves cleaning the surface, weed treatment, a polyurethane surface binder, a coloured non-slip top coat and court markings for Basketball, Tennis and Netball (Football can use a mix of the other court lines).

Initially 50% of the surrounding rebound boards will be replaced. This work will be done by volunteers. If you’d like to get involved in this to help improve the facility for your favourite game please get in touch.

Again many thanks to Ric Piper and his team who have put a lot of time, though and effort in coming up with the best way forward to improve the MUGA and plan for securing its future.

If you or your team are interested in making more use of the MUGA please get in touch with any member of the Village Hall Committee.

Village Market open for business again!

Many thanks to Donna Davies who ensured our village Market opened again for the first time in July since March 2020. It was great to say everyone back buying from old and new market traders and browsing and buying at the Car Boot Sale organised by Sue McKen. Despite a rainy start to the morning you turned out in great numbers and the Community Café made a record profit! Thank you to everyone for making this a special morning.

Next Village Market : Saturday 14th August 10am-12noon.

With best wishes

David Derbyshire
