Wow WÖR

Wow ... WÖR ... meaning  ‘Absolutely very fine’. And for sure we’ve just been treated to a truly fabulous gig in the village hall thanks to Take Art and our own reps Sue Comer-Jones and Maureen James and Rod Hancox. WÖR, the Belgian band made up of five great young musicians, rollicked through a programme of traditional 18th-century Flemish tunes given a contemporary twist on violin, bagpipes, baritone saxophone, accordion and guitar, electrified and electrifying. We heard of marching nuns, weavers, fisherman and dark-doings in a castle, interspersed with some very funny anecdoting. The packed village hall clapped and cheered, whooped and hummed in accompaniment and delight. A wonderful night.
