Hatch Amateur Theatre Society (HATS)
In March 2008 a Safari Supper, organised to raise funds for play area equipment at the village hall, began with the performance of a short play written by local playwright Rod Hancox. All involved were then keen to pursue the setting up of an amateur dramatics group and HATS, Hatch Beauchamp Amateur Theatre Society, was born. Since then we have performed a variety of three act, one act and short plays by well-known playwrights such as Alan Ayckbourn and Michael Frayn, as well as local writers like Richard Harris.
Ten years on and we regularly entertain the village and beyond with productions in the village hall and the occasional summer evening in the garden of Oakfield House. Rod Hancox continues to write for us and his plays have been among our most memorable. Some of us have also ventured into Variety.
We also get involved with other village social activities and are a well-established part of village life. New members are always welcome – previous acting experience is not necessary – just enthusiasm! We are always seeking not only actors but also anyone with practical skills who could join our very important backstage crew or people who would like to help with the bar or catering.
We have a lot of fun – why not come along and join us? For more information, please call Imogen Graham on 01823 480088 or email imogen.graham00@gmail.com
